Community Involvement

For more than 100 years, Katahdin Trust has operated on the philosophy of providing a wide range of financial services while caring deeply for the Maine communities that we serve. We view our corporate contributions and sponsorships as a pledge of our commitment to making our local communities a better place to live and work. After all, a community that works together thrives together, and that's something we stand behind.

Whether through direct financial support, in-kind donations, or volunteer time by our employees and board of directors, our support of charitable initiatives focuses on programs that we believe can have a meaningful impact on our communities and our Bank.

Ways We Give Back

Town of Blaine

Employee Giving

Katahdin Trust helps foster growth in our local economy by providing jobs to nearly 180 people throughout Maine. Our employees are passionate about where they live, work, and play. In 2023, they demonstrated that commitment by donating 6,700 volunteer hours to 186 local non-profit organizations and programs.

From youth and senior programs to humane societies to community development activities, our employees are serious about giving back and making a difference.

Casual Because We Care

Employees can dress casually on Friday and Saturday each week in support of various non-profit organizations. Each employee that participates in Casual Because We Care Days contributes a minimum of $1 in exchange for the privilege to dress casually and wear jeans. Funds raised are donated annually to pre-selected non-profit organizations throughout Maine. In recent years the Bank has contributed $7,650 towards the following organizations through this program: Maine Veterans Project, Aroostook House of Comfort, and St. Apollonia Dental Clinic.

FL!P

Financial Education

Our Financial Literacy Program (“FL!P”) is a comprehensive educational initiative designed to empower individuals of all ages with essential knowledge and skills to make informed financial decisions and achieve long-term financial well-being.

Executed by Katahdin Trust Company (“KTC”) employees, the program aims to bridge the gap between financial knowledge and practical application, equipping participants with the tools to navigate personal finance effectively.

Our focus areas include education, safe and affordable housing, health and wellness, and community development initiatives; particularly those making a difference in the lives of low-to-moderate income (LMI) individuals.
