Where We Come From

Our small-town roots keep us grounded.

As the 19th century rolled into the 20th, business leaders across the nation began opening independent, community banks. The goal was to meet the financial needs of families and business owners largely ignored by big-city banks. In northern Maine, Katahdin Trust was such a bank; opening its doors in Patten on March 7, 1918. Patten is located at the north entrance of Baxter State Park and has a breathtaking view of Katahdin - the highest mountain in Maine that the bank is proudly named after.

We've seen a lot of change over the years. What has carried our Bank through for more than 100 years is consistency in our mission. Being a positive influence in the communities we serve has been one of our top priorities. Our founders probably wouldn't recognize the modern technologies and methods of banking today. It's a certainty that they would appreciate the continued commitment to personal service. We've never lost sight of the original vision of our founders. We have remained responsive to the needs of our communities while providing comprehensive solutions and impeccable service.

The past, present, and future are rooted in the community. This is why community banking at its best is not just a slogan; it's a way of doing business. It's our mindset and our promise to each person who graces our doorway.
